Greenville Symphony Orchestra: Springtime for Schuman(n)s and Mediterranean Nights

Two programs from the Greenville Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks and Chamber series make up this edition of the show, recorded in March, 2011. From Springtime for Schuman(n)s, there’s the Romantic “Spring” Symphony by Robert Schumann teamed with the a 20th century work by the American composer William Schuman. The concert begins with Tchaikovsky’s much less well-known Piano Concerto No. 2 with pianist Marina Kolomiitseva. Rounding out the show is a highlight from another concert program, Mediterranean Nights: a distinctive arrangement of themes from Bizet’s popular opera by the Soviet era composer Rodion Schedrin.
